Being an NYC Engagement Photographer has its share of epic moments, but photographing a proposal adds an extra layer of excitement! John’s proposal to Ali on the rooftop of The Met, with the majestic midtown skyline stretching behind them, was an event filled with joy and surprise.
John and Ali, both members at the Met, are allowed extra early access to the museum, a privilege that played perfectly into the plan. John recruited Ali’s friend Sophie to take her to the museum for a fun friend hangout, and little did she know we were hiding a few exhibits over! While Ali might’ve sensed a proposal was coming sometime soon in her life, she was completely taken aback seeing John, after Sophie led her to the rooftop!
The simplicity of the setting heightened the emotions of the moment. No grand setups or decorations, just New York City’s skyline and two hearts ready to commit to a lifetime of love and being best friends. Ali’s reaction was everything one could hope for – shock, joy, and excitement, all in quick succession. Her delight upon seeing John, down on one knee, was a sight to behold.
Huge shoutout to Sophie and John’s friend Nick for playing their part seamlessly in ensuring the logistics were spot-on. From coordinating the timing and location to getting Ali to the perfect spot without arousing suspicion, every detail went perfectly.
A heartfelt proposal, a timeless setting, and two people deeply in love—John and Ali’s proposal on the Met rooftop will forever remain in my memory!
My process with couples is to work hard, have fun, & be ourselves. Getting amazing photos should be—and is— that easy.
